Street Food & Makers Markets
Brighthelm Gardens

1st and 3rd Saturday of each month

May - Sept

11am - 4pm

Here's some additional information regarding our Summer Markets.

So, why trade at Brighthelm?

We have built up regular monthly outdoor markets during the summer months for the past 5 years (excluding 2019). During this time, many visitors are constantly asking how often the market is on and praising the quaintness of the location and the quality and variety of stallholders. We now feel it's the right time to bring a slightly more regular independent outdoors market to the centre of Brighton and build upon its success so far.

The gardens are secluded and sheltered with the benefit of some large established trees for extra shelter, with 3 entry access points from North Road, Queens Road and Church Street. The main trading area is level and idea for gazebo trading/table stalls, but we also have areas perfect for stand alone products, such as horticulture/garden/small furniture etc at a slightly reduced rate.

The prime location attracts many visitors both locals and the many summer visitors to Brighton arriving by train. The venue is situated just minutes away from Brighton Train Station  and is on the main thoroughfare to central Brighton/Churchill Square and the beach.

Is there parking available?

The site benefits from one of the rare venues in central Brighton that has free onsite parking to our traders (however places are limited and we offer these to hot food and gazebo traders first, due to having more equipment and stock). The other benefit of the venue is that right next door is an NCP car park that offers an early bird Saturday parking fee of £9 for all day before 9 am. We are happy for one of our team to look after your items whilst you park your car.

What traders are we looking for?

We love to include a whole mix of independent small, local businesses; so whether your business falls into fashion/homewares/art/craft/food/speciality food/produce and of course gift/Brighton related products for visitors to take home are also very popular stalls. But whatever your category, why not give it a go - we love variety at our events and so do our visitors!

Our events have and always will be about supporting small independent businesses and giving them a platform to reach out.

Brighton loves originality and is well known for supporting eco-friendly/handmade/up-cycled products - so these generally very well. Brighton also loves its quality food, particular flavours from around the world with vegan/vegetarian options highly in demand too. The street food stalls are very popular!

Points to consider

We can no longer allow generators on-site due to noise pollution to neighbours. All gazebos must be provided by yourself. Pitches can be shared. No trucks/vehicles/trailers are permitted onto the main trading site. All rubbish must be cleared at end of the trading period. Table only traders are permitted to bring parasols. Pop up and trade pitches are available with 4ft folding lightweight tables - which can be booked up to the day before each market, subject to availability.

New for 2022

Pop up and trade pitches - These are small 4ft pitches, with a 4ft folding, lightweight table provided. Ideal if you want to trade on a smaller scale, arriving on foot or public transport, last minute bookings or want to try the market out for your products. We have a limited amount available and will be subject to available space, after gazebo/larger pitches. They are available to book right up to the day before each event (subject to space remaining available) but can also be booked in advance to guarantee.

Bad weather F.A.Q

The market will not be cancelled unless it is considered dangerous weather conditions (e.g strong damaging winds). We require all gazebos to be fully weighted down at all times. In the unlikely event we do cancel due to weather then a full refund will be given. As showers can be part of our lovely summer forecast, we recommend waterproof gazebos with side attachments! For table only traders you are welcome to bring a parasol for an addition to your stall in any conditions. In the event of rain, you will be offered a free upgrade to bring a gazebo (space permitting) or we will carry your pitch forward to the next available market at the venue.
