Today on the blog we've caught up with Julia, the maker behind Truffle Witch where we get to hear her story behind the business. We certainly can't wait to try her delicious looking chocolates on 8th December at the Brighthelm Centre - YUM!
How did you start you're business?
Chocolate making began as a hobby and turned into a business when I decided I'd had enough of my job, in the Autumn of 2016. My original intent was to open a cafe but, whilst I was searching for suitable premises, chocolate kind of took over. I decided to back up my self taught skills with some professional training and started slowly to build my business trading at craft fairs and markets throughout 2017.
What do you enjoy running your own chocolate buisness?
I found I really enjoyed going to different locations and meeting different people. I particularly enjoyed themed events where I could get into the spirit of things by creating a special truffle or fudge flavour to suit the theme - and get dressed up!
How has your business developed since?
In January this year I decided to get the best of both worlds and expand my business by getting a coffee van. It's taken longer than planned and there have been many obstacles but, I am now the proud owner of a mobile coffee, cake and chocolate shop, affectionately known Brunhilde the Broomstick. Dairy and gluten free options always on offer. Next year she will also be available for private events and services on offer will include a bar.
Do you have anything special planned for our upcoming event at the Brighthelm Centre?
For the event on 8th December I will have a range of seasonal flavours in both truffles and fudge, chocolate covered marzipan, Christmas pudding truffles, chocolate shoes and other items that make great gifts and stocking fillers.
Make sure you head over to our meet the traders database to find out more about our other stallholders.
