Read about Knitty Gritty and it's founder, Sophie Hill. You'll find her cosy creations at our market in Shoreham for the Small Business Saturday on December 2nd.
What is it that sparked your interest in Knitting?
My Mum taught me to knit when I was 7, so I've always been able to knit. I started Knitty Gritty at the start of 2017, after quite a few of my friends asked me to make them hats, scarfs, cardigans etc. Since then I have been surprised how popular/busy I have become!
How has Knitty Gritty developed since then?
To begin with I had orders from friends and mutual friends, but it wasn't long until I was getting orders from strangers through my Etsy store and my Social Media accounts. It's a fantastic feeling to hear positive feedback from people placing orders online! 2018 for me will hopefully involve attending more craft fairs and developing a Spring/Summer collection!
Do you have a favourite thing that you like to knit?
Such a difficult question! I like experimenting with different stitches, anything that will allow me to see that stitch evolve such as blankets with the hexagon stitch or scarves with the herringbone stitch. As you will see from my stall, I am also a sucker for hats!
We're really looking forward to seeing your stall at our event! Is there anything you love most about attending craft fairs and markets?
Meeting other creatives truly inspires me and my shop!
And can we expect to find anything special at your stall on December 2nd?
There will be a few festive creations that will only be available at the Paper Daisy Event Makers Market.
Everyone loves a one of a kind find! So make sure you swing by Knitty Gritty's stall and check out what Sophie will have on offer.
