Introducing... Sew Me Up
Meet Katie, the maker behind Sew Me Up. Her masks are beautifully handmade and have the power to turn your little ones into their favourite characters! Find Katie at our Christmas Markets on November 12th and The Open Market & December 9th at The Brighthelm Centre!
What is it that made you start Sew Me Up? I love to sew and after completing my fashion degree, I took time out to have children and then as they got bigger i realised how much I missed sewing. One day my son was playing dressing up with a friend and he asked me for a mask, I quickly whisked up a Spider-Man mask and this is where it all began....
How has the business developed since then? It all started in 2014 and my range of masks has grown hugely. The masks proved popular with the kiddies, so I booked more and more markets and started selling on etsy last year which I am learning about every day. I am still continuing to make new characters and think up new ideas which I love. I'm also a seamstress, so if I'm not making masks I'm taking up trousers and altering dresses.
What’s your favourite mask to create? I love creating new masks, especially when theirs a new favourite character out or new film ... my latest favourite has to be Poppy from trolls as it's so big and colourful.
What do you love most about attending fairs and markets? I love to see the children's faces light up as they see my masks and their little faces so excited when they try on their favourite character or animal. It really brings my masks to life and it's so nice how every mask looks different on individual children.
Will you be offering anything special at our markets this Christmas? I always do special offers at markets. All my masks will be 2 for £10 and I generally have offers on most of my items when 2 items are bought.
Make sure you pop along to our Christmas Markets in Brighton where you will find Katie and her fantastic masks!
