Chris Millard will be joining us again in Shoreham to showcase his amazing illustrations of beautiful animals. Let's find out some more about the man behind the work.
Hi Chris, tell us a bit about how you started out?
Well I've always enjoyed drawing a lot, so I studied Illustration at university, although it wasn't until a few years after graduating I began to find my style and start to produce the images I do today. It all started one evening sketching and painting an ostrich in water colours and the rest has followed.
How have your illustrations developed since that ostrich...?
From those initial water colour bird paintings my work has spread to cushions, greetings cards, t-shirts, pet portrait commissions, wedding invitations and more.
Do you have a favourite thing that you like to create?
There isn't a particular type of work I favour over others, I just love getting absorbed in the creative process, making images and trying something new.
Is there anything you enjoy most about attending craft fairs and makers markets?
Aside from meeting more like minded creative sorts and stall venders, I love to people watch and seeing their reaction to my work (although daunting) helps me understand what works well, what doesn't and understand how evolve my images.
